Types of Forged Fittings
We manufacture a comprehensive array of forged fitting configurations to ensure maximum versatility in high-pressure fluid control networks.
45° & 90° Forged Elbows
Engineered to change the direction of pipeline flow at a precise 45-degree or 90-degree angle. These heavy-duty elbows are forged for extreme structural integrity.
- Variants: 45° Elbow, 90° Elbow
- Connections: Socket Weld (SW), Threaded (NPT/BSPT)
- Application: High-pressure directional flow transitions
Forged Tees & Crosses
Used to divide or combine fluid flow. A Tee splits flow into two streams, while a Cross distributes it across three auxiliary pipelines.
- Variants: Equal Tee, Reducing Tee, Cross
- Design: 90-degree branch intersections
- Advantage: Exceptional burst strength at intersection joints
Forged Couplings & Unions
Couplings are used to seamlessly connect two pipes. Unions offer similar connectivity but are designed to allow rapid disconnection for maintenance.
- Variants: Full Coupling, Half Coupling, Union
- Half Coupling: Used for branch connections directly from main pipe
- Union: Features male/female ends with a central nut
Forged Plugs
Solid fittings inserted into the end of a pipe to seal flow. Available in various drive configurations for easy installation and removal with wrenches.
- Variants: Hex Head Plug, Square Plug, Round Head Plug
- Usage: Temporary or permanent line sealing
- Threads: NPT / BSPT strictly machined for leak-tight seals
Forged Bushings
Used to reduce a larger threaded opening to a smaller one. They are threaded both inside and out for rapid, space-saving diameter transitions.
- Variants: Hex Head Bushing, Hex Head Inside Bushing
- Advantage: Requires less physical space than a standard reducer
- Application: Instrument connections and fluid reduction
Nipples & Forged Caps
Nipples extend pipelines and connect fittings, while Caps act as high-pressure structural dead-ends welded or threaded over the pipe exterior.
- Nipples: Full Nipple, Half-Nipple (Threaded one end, plain/beveled on other)
- Caps: Hemispherical external sealing
- Pressure: Engineered to withstand up to 9000 LBS class
Types of Forged End Connections
Forged fittings are manufactured with two primary connection types, engineered for extremely secure, leak-proof joints in critical fluid handling systems.
Socket Weld (SW)
The pipe is inserted into a recessed area (socket) of the fitting before being fillet-welded. Provides exceptional structural strength and minimizes the risk of internal weld protrusion into the pipeline.
Threaded (NPT / BSPT)
Features internal or external threads (most commonly NPT). Ideal for highly explosive environments where welding is prohibited, or for systems that require frequent disassembly and maintenance.
Standard Dimensional Tolerances (ASME B16.11)
Our strict adherence to ASME B16.11 ensures that socket weld and threaded dimensions provide absolute structural and leak-proof integrity.
| Dimension | Fitting Size (NPS) | Tolerance (Inches) |
|---|---|---|
| Bore Diameter of Socket | 1/8" to 3/4" | ± 0.010" |
| 1" to 4" | ± 0.015" | |
| Socket Depth | 1/8" to 4" | ± 0.060" (Minimum) |
| Concentricity of Bores | 1/8" to 2" | 0.030" TIR max |
| 2 1/2" to 4" | 0.060" TIR max | |
| Center-to-Bottom of Socket | 1/8" to 4" | ± 0.030" |
| Wall Thickness (Min) | 1/8" to 4" | Per ASME B16.11 Table 4 (Varies by Class) |
